Eric Chung

Partner, Energy & Utilities, West Monroe

Eric is a Partner in West Monroe’s Energy and Utilities practice who guides utilities through regulatory change and digital transformation. Eric’s breadth of experience and accomplishments have established him as a trusted advisor on various industry topics, including regulatory strategy, digital transformation, change management, investment portfolio prioritization, business case evaluation, and corporate development. He has deep expertise in utility ratemaking, revenue requirements, and rate case strategy. He has sponsored expert testimony before multiple state commissions in many docketed proceedings, all representing utility regulatory requirements. He most recently testified on behalf of all three Massachusetts electric distribution companies in their Electric Sector Modernization Plan proceeding on the subject of net benefits analysis.

Prior to joining West Monroe, Eric spent approximately ten years as an executive at two major East Coast utilities, Eversource and National Grid. At Eversource, Eric directed a multi-state regulatory department focused on rate cases, revenue requirements, and strategic regulatory projects. He was the head of a financially and operationally successful generation portfolio divestiture that completed restructuring in New England. Eric represented Eversource in grid modernization working groups in each of its three jurisdictions and was a frequent revenue requirements witness. Previously, Eric was Head of Transformation Change for the New England Jurisdiction at National Grid. Before his time in industry, Eric was a senior-level management consultant for EY and other leading firms on the topics of power generation strategy, environmental policy, business case development, and strategic investment decisions.

Eric holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Harvard College and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He is a long-term adjunct faculty member at Harvard Extension School, teaching Corporate Strategy as part of its graduate management degree program.
