Hui Zhang is the Director of Grid Innovation at the AES Corporation. He leads efforts to evaluate diverse grid technologies and deliver reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for generation interconnection and grid operations. Previously, Hui served as Manager of Reliability and EIM Operations at Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD). His earlier career included roles at the California ISO and Appian Way Energy Partners. Hui holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University and an MBA from UC Berkeley. He is a NERC Certified System Operator, a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California, and an IEEE Senior Member.
